"The Old Man and the Tool"

I want to tell you something important.

Many of you know me as "The Old Man" from Missouri.

You read the stories.

You see the messages.

You hear me talk about Jesus.

But some of you may wonder how these messages are written.

The answer may surprise you.

I sit down each morning with my Bible, my thoughts, my experiences, and my prayers.

I ask God what He wants me to share.

Then I begin writing.

Sometimes I know exactly what I want to say.

Sometimes I only know what God has placed on my heart.

Years ago, if I wanted to share these messages with people around the world, I would have needed airplanes, printing presses, radio stations, and many other things.

Today, God has provided tools that help carry messages farther than ever before.

One of those tools helps me organize my thoughts into words.

But understand this:

The tool does not have a testimony.

The tool has never walked through a valley.

The tool has never prayed for a sick child.

The tool has never experienced God's grace.

The tool has never been born again.

I have.

The stories come from a life that Jesus changed.

The lessons come from years of following Him.

The hope comes from God's Word.

The wisdom comes from the Holy Spirit teaching me day by day.

The tool simply helps arrange the words.

It is much like a pencil in the hand of a writer.

The pencil does not write the story.

The writer does.

A guitar does not sing a song.

The musician does.

A fishing rod does not catch fish by itself.

Someone must cast the line.

And a tool cannot change a life.

Only Jesus can do that.

So if you learn anything from the stories I share, do not be impressed with the old man.

Do not be impressed with the tool.

Look to Jesus.

He is the One who saves.

He is the One who teaches.

He is the One who gives everlasting life.

He is the One who can take a child in Pakistan, a teacher in a classroom, or an old man in Missouri and use them for His glory.

That is the real miracle.

Not the old man.

Not the tool.

But Jesus Christ working through willing hearts.

— The Old Man

"The miracle is not that an old man in Missouri can reach children in Pakistan. The miracle is that Jesus can use anything He chooses to carry His message."
