This is a true story regarding what God did for Peggy and myself years ago. I am sharing this in the hope that our story might help anyone with a problem to turn to God for help.

Sunday Morning

The answer to our problem began one Sunday Morning in our Sunday School Class. The lesson was about a woman, who gave all she had (one mite) to God. I was touched by her action and realized we didn’t even have a mite. I figured we were down several mites. (I had no idea the value of a mite)

Our bills, before food, gas, or other things were $500.00 a month, and no income.  Peggy was expecting our first child and I could not find work, due to the fact I could still be called into service any moment

The reason we found ourselves in this situation was, that I had received my draft notice to report for the Vietnam War. We quit our jobs and moved back to Missouri, so Peggy would be close to her folks.  A week before I was to go to Kansas City, I received notice that I was reclassified and didn’t need to report.

Sunday After Lunch

After lunch, I stood in front of a big mirror in our living room and told God I would Tithe if He would get us out of this mess. I said I figure we're down several mites. and don’t have a mite to give. I created the bills before I heard about tithing, and it would only be right to pay bills first, then I would Tithe.

I didn’t know much about God or Prayer and had no idea how The Story of The Widow’s Mite, would change our lives and relationship to God.

Monday Morning

In the days to follow good things began to happen.

Found a job paying us $300.oo a month. Within three weeks, I started receiving a raise each week. Guess I was doing a good job!

Our First Child!   Dondi's Story to follow!

Dondi was born and Peggy got a new job. I continued getting raises and  I got a promotion.

Purchased property

We purchased the property where we now live for nothing down and $25.oo a month. The same amount we were paying in rent to park our mobile home. Through Peggy’s job, we were able to purchase a house full of furniture directly from the manufacturer at cost, and God worked on us every day, helping us grow close to Him. It wasn’t all good, we faced many problems through this time. (Will write about this later).

Holding Back on My Promise

A short time later I was walking in front of our mobile home and God spoke to me. He said you told me you would tithe if I got you out of your mess. I didn’t respond.

Peggy was ready to tithe but I was dragging my feet. Wow, 10% was a lot of money I could use. Every week our car would break down and the repair bill would be the same amount my tithe would have been.  What a deal, I wasn’t tithing and the garage was getting my money. At this point I started to fear God and what He could do to me. I came to realize God could stomp me like a bug. So I told Peggy it was time to tithe.

Through this situation, we never missed a payment or were late on a payment. God not only supplied for our bills He allowed us to have extra. Since that day I have come to know and understand how important it is to Tithe and realize our tithe can be time and money.

Gave Everything to God

In 1982 Peggy and I decided to give everything we had to God. After all, we didn’t have one thing including our children and our lives, that God had not given to us.  I don’t care what you have heard or Believe!

God is Real.  He cares and Loves Us!

He will do exceedingly abundantly more than we can imagine when we Trust and Obey. He helped us when we were down several mites and continues to Bless us today.  You can stand on His Word for any situation you will face in Life.   Don’t hesitate to contact me for help or prayer.

Do you know Him?   make sure!

You must be truly Born Again to Trust and Stand on His Word. What kind of Relationship do You have with God?

In Love,

Gary and Peggy Crawford
